Long time ago, there lived in this place 40 old tenant families whose houses were apart from one another. They lived a simple life, hardworking, prayerful, blessed with natural products like root crops, vegetables, fruits and palay, which is the primary source of their living. That is why the place is known in the name of “Sapang Palay” before it became “San Jose del Monte this present time. These people were very close to each other because they respect their individuality, attitudes, beliefs, customs and traditions. They considered themselves as one family living in a very secluded and mountainous land with a vast of cogon and other wild animals.
As time went by, this place named Barangay Minuyan, eventually increased its population due to the huge number of families relocated from different squatter areas particularly in Manila.
